Hawaii Adventure Tours - More than Just Beaches
For many people a trip to Hawaii means swimming in the ocean, lying on
the beaches and attending luaus, and why not? Hawaii is the perfect
island get away. So, why would an adventure lover want to travel to
this tropical paradise? How about rock climbing, exploring rain
forests or checking out volcanoes? On Hawaii? Absolutely!
Hawaii is one of the best places anywhere to explore volcanoes. The
reason is simple, the islands are literally formed from these active,
exploding mountains. And the best place in Hawaii to explore these
craters is in Volcanoes National Park which is located on the big island of
Hawaii. This park offers thrill seekers and naturalists alike the
chance to experience practically every part of a living volcano. From the
heat of the lava flow to the unmistakable smell of the sulfuric gases to the
steam that billows from its crevices.
If you enjoy hiking then Diamond Head is a must for your vacation
itinerary. Mount Leahi, or, as the locals call it, Diamond Head;
offers an unbelievable view of Waikiki and Honolulu as a reward to any who
climb it. To get to the view, however, one must hike inside the
mountain itself. The trip actually starts in the parking lot and then
continues all the way through a tunnel that is 300 feet long, finally ending
in a couple of steep sets of stairs. If you are in excellent shape and
enjoy a side vacation that is out of the mainstream, make this top on Oahu
tops on your list of vacation fun.
Since you are on the Hawaiian Islands, you might as well enjoy the
water. One great way to do this is to enjoy the surfing that is
offered
here. Where is the best place to show off your boarding skills?
Oahu!
The North Shore is known as America’s Mecca for surfing. While driving
along the Kamehameha highway, look for a section of ocean that
includes Ehukai and Pupkea beach, here the surfing is always great.
Looking for even more of a thrill? Then check out a place that is
located west of the Ehukai beach, this place is known as the Banzai
Pipeline. This is because the coral shelf and the shallow water that
are located here, come together to create some of the most spectacular tube
shaped waves found anywhere. However, be warned that when the surf is
up, these pipes are difficult, even for a pro.
If you want to see the entire island that you are staying on, but don’t
want to cover the whole thing on foot, check out the helicopter tours
that are offered. These tours allow you to see everything that the
Hawaiian Islands have to offer from the lush rain forests to its active
volcanoes, its pristine waterfalls to the white sand beaches, all from the
comfort of a helicopter seat. The packages that are offered vary in
length of time and money spent, and tend to sell out fast, but if the
opportunity arises to climb in and view Hawaii from a birds eye view, grab
it.
These are just a few of the great vacation adventures that Hawaii has
to offer. Keep them in mind for a truly once-in-a-lifetime experience.
